This year AODC goes to the tropical city of Darwin in the Australia's Top End for the 13th annual event. The conference will be held at the Palms City Resort, fabulously located on the Esplanade in the heart of the city. Set in lush tropical gardens, Palms is an special venue for a special conference.

Opened in April 2003, on the former site of the Hotel Darwin, the Resort overlooks the fascinating Darwin Harbour and parkland foreshores. It is only a short, one block stroll to the vibrant Mitchell Street, which is full of restaurants, pubs, nightclubs, night markets, and entertainment. Palms City Resort has various styles of affordable, tropical style accommodation.

You can book accommodation directly with the Resort at a reduce AODC conference rate, but you might find some bargains with booking sites such as Wotif, ReadyRooms, and LastMinute. There are plenty of neighbouring hotels (particularly those on The Esplanade) within a short walk of the Palms.

Getting to the Palms City Resort

From Darwin Airport, you can take the 24 hour Darwin Airport Shuttle to the Palms City Resort, for $12 one way (or $22 return). A taxi from the airport costs about $30. 

If you pick up a hire car from the airport, just follow the Stuart Highway into Darwin City. Turn left at The Esplanade, and follow for 1.5 kms to Palms City Resort on your left. The Centataph is on your right. Palms City Resort does not charge for car parking, however only a limited number of car spaces are available. Travel time from the airport is approximately twenty minutes.
